Shaina Dudek Poems

I trust the sun, come morning, will rise
as I trust December to carry white,
still the first snowfall I shall act surprised
and gaze in wonder through the night.
...

Grief, my friend
rolls in as waves, with my back turned toward the sea
The tide creeps in, I sink
a little deeper into the Earth
...

Inside my veins, a pulse
My heart, a murmur
My bones, a chill
My words, a skip
...

When my lady was a baby
said her mother kept up daisies
She'd pick 'em in the yard
let 'em shine up on the windowsill

Trust In The Unknown

I trust the sun, come morning, will rise
as I trust December to carry white,
still the first snowfall I shall act surprised
and gaze in wonder through the night.

I trust the moon, come night, will glow
as I trust the Earth may keep on turning
and though these nights we feel alone,
I trust this fire will keep on burning.

I trust that not all deeds are fair
as I trust this heart to keep on beating
and as my lungs fill up with air,
I trust myself to keep on breathing
