Alas Poem by kamilah kerrisa walker

Alas

Never felt this summer breeze.
No adjusting to this malaise,
Affectionate mother adamant child.
Another intolerable day has come and gone.
She prays for perpetual bliss,
Isolation her only friend from this perilous being.
Tainted images of a perfect son.
No trophies on the shelf,
No merits of splendour,
Memoir a spoonful of joy.
She pleads to the man who gives him employ
Leave him alone he's just a boy
Looking for a father
Looking for a friend
Alas!
A bullet-riddled body marks the end.
