Annie Poem by Anne Onymous

Annie

I could
I suppose
Disclose who I am
and accept the disappointed sigh
That would inevitably come
And the audible “its her, is it! ”
But discovery would not only kill
the words I wish to speak
but snuff out like the candle light
the purest love I’ve known
For within the confines of this name
I no longer feel alone
and free to write down all my thoughts
and let my heart fly free
A cliche, A cliche I hear you scorn
Maybe?
Maybe,
Maybe!
But Annie’s here and Annie’s real
though her name is quite unknown
And long may it remain that way
Because Annie’s quite at home.
