As Time Goes By Poem by Linda Racaniello

As Time Goes By

I sit and ponder life
as time goes by
not doing much of anything
but gazing at the sky

I awaken in the morning
fresh from a good nights rest
I grab a cup of coffee
and hope for the best

I wrestle my way to work
with cars are rushing to and fro
the highway is a nightmare
but it's the only way to go

Fighting for a parking space
then dashing through the door
I punch that damn time clock
at eight oh four

Another day late to work
gosh it's my only crime
I wonder if I'll ever get here
to punch the clock on time

I think I'm doing all I can
to make this life worth living
though maybe I don't care enough
I sure hope that God's forgiving

So I've wasted yet another day
as time goes swiftly by
I haven't accomplished all that much
now I have to wonder why

So as I lie in bed this night
and begin to pray
I'll ask God for guidance
to guide me on my way

So Lord if you see fit
know that I will take good care
if you grant me peace and love
with open arms I'll share
