Crown Poem by Alejandro Torres

Crown

With my last breath
I would love you
And ever after
At night I dream
Of my golden love
With tresses of silk
A musk
Of deep sensuality
Amber eyes and paling tan flesh
But you run away
Even in my dreams
And no matter how fast
I race
I am no Hermes
But this chase reminds me
Of Great Apollo
And his nymph
If I managed to catch
One tender touch
Would you form your shape
Into my crown
For lives to come
For lives that will pass
As I would
If only you’d so much
As ask
Oh what a joy
Loving so selflessly
Used to be
A husk of its former
Without you here
A shell is all I am
Loving you
Miles away
