End Of The Line Poem by Robert Sheridan

End Of The Line

Took a trip to NYC
Went to the Empire State building
Road the elevator to the 86th floor
It’s the observation deck, can see
the Big Apple & a whole lot more
Wanted to prove a theory – if I
threw myself off, would I land
like a penny – heads-up, or on
my fanny; would I land on a
passerby, on the hood of a taxi;
and if I did would anyone cry?
But on the deck was an awfully
long line of jumpers – suicide
wanna-be’s; no cutting, take a
number; in front of me was a
guy eating a pie – asked him
why? replied, “Wanna digest
right; ” it was the end of the line.
