Erica Poem by Nisho Olme

Erica

In both the absence of your time and space,
When your loneliness stares you right back in the face.
The mirror you cling to is stealing your name,
And warping your mind til we both look the same.
You've echoed my steps now for over a year,
And you've scratched at your flaws hoping they'd disappear.
But nothing can stop all the flaws that you see,
'Cause each flaw that you've found has given by me.
We're almost the same and it's nearing the end,
With our disgusting secrets we try to defend.
Our secrets that only the two of us know,
The secrets that won't let the two of us go.
The secrets that scar all the memories we had,
The secrets that people think 'can't be that bad'.
The secrets that won't ever leave us alone,
The secrets that created new ones one their own.
The secrets that tell us that we'll never change,
And spin morbid lies til the truth sounds the same.
The secrets that lost us the love that we shared,
Through the lies that I took to mean you never cared.
So maybe this morning you'll look extra close,
At the girl in the mirror who is more of a ghost.
And when she looks back and you don't know her face,
I hope that you laugh at your own sad disgrace.
