Force Fed Poem by Luke Arthur

Force Fed

Open the newspaper, turn on the radio
Listen hard for the good news to come
Turn up the TV. Talk to some friends
Listen hard for the good news to come

Be careful what you eat, if it’s sugary and sweet
Eat at least five a day or believe us you’ll pay
Limit the dairy, the carbs, the salt and the meat
Don’t eat any fried food; only drink 1 liquor a-day

Recessions: depressions, child molestation, confessions
Swine flu, liver disease, heart attacks and cancer
Hypocrisy, corruption, contradictions and lies
Destitution, mental health, poverty and crime

A failing National Health Service and the banking crash
There’s Global warming and the mountains of trash
Rising fuel bills; rip of Britain and the council tax
The haves and the have not’s; the condescending whacks

But trust us they say, for to come is a better day
They force fed the guinea pigs and kept down their pay
Be happy with your lot and cry fowl dare not
Have a smoke; tell a joke; you’re such a nice bloke

Remember people are people and such is their nature
They’ll betray one another for the sake of own Jack
Put one against tother and for a penny today
They’ll chop off the hand that fed em and say

Twas me or me brother please forgive me, dear Mother
