Forever Young Poem by Alejandro Torres

Forever Young

In loving you
I’ll keep you forever young
With words of gardens
And fresh innocence
You were the Eve
I grieve for

You weren’t poisoned by the serpent
Who hung in a loop from trees
Creating a noose
But by the guy
Who thought himself a god
His minions told
And you had to keep feeding him
Your love
But I hope it was just fools gold

So when he speaks of you
When he turns his hat on me
He breaks his teeth
On words no one believes
They’re just a delusional guys lies
That will burn to cinder
Because neither of use will turn into pillars
Of crystal salt

So I keep dressing these words
Like I cultivate emotions
Even if you treat them like poison ivy
Not that they still make you itch
For more

Cause night time had you searching
That elusive star in your sky
That definite factor
You grew accustomed too
That little dose of me

So I build a fairytale
Based off of moments from long ago
And when I get back to you
I’ll write an epic novel
The world will be able to relate to
An epic romance song
That’ll continue til after
We’re both gone

Because myths are just legends
That never die
Much like love
And like the Heavens
Like the Earth
We’ll last

So in my heart I keep you
Forever young with golden words
Of a love that’s true
