Good Enough Poem by Carly Almonde

I can feel the tears pouring down my face
even though my heart denies them.
I try to think of happy thoughts
but i can't find them.
I will never be that perfect girl,
that you want me to be.
I can never be good enough
for either you or me.
I regret that i haven't been the daughter you've dreamed of,
I regret that i've disapointed you.
You've never appreciated all that i've done,
you've never even said that you're proud.
was it too much to ask,
for you to tell me that you loved me?
I know that if i was to die today,
you wouldn't be at my funeral.
I'm sorry i couldn't have been better,
but this is the way God has made me.
I will look to him for my comfort.
I will look to him to love me,
As i know you do not.
I will pray to him to change your thoughts,
and i will pray to him,
that one day you'll see
the real me,
the me i should be.
