Happy. Poem by sohini dey

Happy.

Rating: 5.0

I was happy
Happy in my sweet little world
Of friends and flowers
Of games and love
Of fun and heart-breaks
Yes I was happy.
Momentary sun-less days would appear
In guise of a rare rebuke
Or a small little tiff
But I was happy.

I woke up one morn.
Sun-smiling, bird-chirping.
Sparkling swirling morning tea.
‘bomb blasts in srinagar’
‘bomb blasts in mumbai’
bloody faces, bloody parts
massacre, devastation, destruction
Nothing left whole.
Nobody left whole.
Screams, wails, cries, sirens
Maddening, blinding scenes
Flashed on t.v.
I wanted to cry, I wanted to scream
The tears wouldn’t drop
The voice wouldn’t speak.
Days after days after days after days.
Blood, grime, death
Nights after nights after nights after nights
Screams, wails, curses.
Would it ever end?
Vengeance, power, passion
Die hard..oh no, are immortal.

A day or two in mourning
I am back in my coccooned fake world
Happy.

dear sohini, it is called the full moon syndrome. next time you are not in good mood, examine the shape of the moon. it comes in cycle.

We've tuned our minds to cry over matters/tragedies and forget! this poem talks exactly about that, and very effectively too. well written! a 10! Preets
