Kitty Poem by Ted L Glines

Kitty

Kitty
by Ted L Glines

She sits tall and stares
tall and regal
standing there alone
like those cats seen
carved deeply into ancient
lost and forgotten
fungi ridden walls
sequestered in dark wet gloom
of forbidden Tibetan caves
and halls
she stares
huge blue eyes
framed in fluffy
pure white fur
queenly tall
blue eyes so endless deep
staring
looking right at me
no matter where I move
still staring right at me
deep eyes growing larger
ever larger
like deep blue wells
sucking me down and down
swirling round and round
into the gulf of her thoughts
where blackness rules
lost and gone
in tides of time
where arcane forces rule
but now I see her
taller now - white queenly
huge deep blue eyes staring
something is changed
now she is not alone
for now I see a horse
a pure white horse
no - a unicorn
wrapped around her
protecting guarding helping
its large amber eyes staring
and I think
the unicorn is me
yes - it surely is myself
imagine me - a unicorn
her deep blue eyes
my deep amber eyes
thinking deep and lonely thoughts
staring - ever staring
at you...

Welcome to the fine fantasy art of Sue Dawe. I have a copy of this painting on the wall right by my bed. Ms. Dawe is the very finest of contemporary fantasy artists. I would love to write a dungeons and dragons book just so I could commission Sue Dawe to paint the cover.
