Learning To Fly Poem by Tammi Tomlinson

Learning To Fly

Rating: 4.5

She sits lonely on the balcony,
Screaming ringing in her ears,
Looking back she remembers,
Her lovers betrayal.

She sees him sitting alone in the dark,
Damp air circling around his back,
The silent park dank and dreary.

She runs toward him,
And stops short at the sight,
Of another raising from his lap,
She turns away,
Her second love kicking inside her.

She stands looking over the city,
The screaming growing louder in her ears,
Turning she walks into a twilight filled room,
Little hands clenched into fists beat the air,
Tiny mouth crying for sustenance,

She walks away,
Her mobile in her hand,
Typing out a message she sends it,
And waits on the balcony.

Knocking on the door,
The time has come,
Stepping forward,
She feels free.

No more screaming,
No more lies,
No more heartbreak,
For her at least.

Children ask questions,
His were always the same.

'Why did mummy have to fly? '

This poem made me yelp.... so many parts to this, I feel I need to ask loads... which to me makes a great poem, I only hope this is not a reality for you... and if it is your ability to transfer thought to words, is fantastic...
