Lonely Street Poem by Rachel Brewer

Lonely Street

I’m standing in the middle of the street,
I look down and see my feet.

I look back up and the wind is fierce,
And my eyes it did pierce.

I felt the tear run down my cheek,
My body was starting to leak.

I start to walk through the empty place,
Wondering if you would take chase?

I didn’t know if you were there with me,
I didn’t know if you held the key?

If you held the key to my heart,
Then we could run, make a new start.

I look around but you’re not there,
I wonder if you were anywhere?

You certainly weren’t with me,
Maybe in the future, we’ll see.

Until that day I’m on my own two feet,
Wandering down the lonely street.
