Lord Of This World Poem by Marc Jude Fernandes

Lord Of This World

Rating: 5.0

O' mighty and omnipotent lord
Do not forget this prophet of thine
If thou art certainly God
Thou will listen to this song of mine

And this song, from where should I begin
An elegy to my lost soul, my batter'd life
For this moment, I cry torment'd by sin
Death embraces me as I lay abandon'd by life

And again feeling that thou doth not exist
If thou art what thou claim to be
Then thou should appear before me
If thou wilt that my faith should persist

Come yonder here, I command thee
For I lay afflict'd and await thy advent
Come Lord with the dancing nymphs of heaven
And from this pain and agony, relieve me

Ah! But still thou will not appear
And thou spake that I should not fear
But Lord, I can sing only of oncoming disaster
As I live to die a day another

O' mercy! Disregard thy lover's complaint
Forgive the errors of thy saint
Now as my sojourn on earth has come to an end
I bid goodbye to thee, my love, my friend

A fine and lofty verse, well articulated and nicely brought forth with spiritual insight. A beautiful creation. Thanks for sharing Marc.
