Lost A Friend Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Lost A Friend

Lost a friend

I heard of a goat that
Had become pregnant.

She was pet and in farm
By herself, all alone
As single, one of a kind.

Must have had hope, dreams
For raising her baby…

Suddenly, she fell sick,
Before her delivery.

She collapsed and owner,
Of goats' life unaware,
Meant to see a doctor
Who was far, and away!

Miracle came in when
She stood on four legs
And the baby entered
In blood, miserable!

Mother goat licked the child
Till baby moved and walked
And grabbed source of milk,
It did not take too long
When mother said goodbye!

Mystery is this life
I love it, at same time
Feel lacking the means to
Explain how…define…

As a child of mountains
And friend of the herds
See the things different…

In city am laughed at
For being Dehati,
To them am grizzly!
