No Retreat Poem by Bill Upton

No Retreat

There was a gnawing gut feeling
That the pieces of the puzzle
That were not in place
Were going to be formed,
And the mystery would be solved,
And the worlds would collide,
And the planets would align themselves.

We unnecessarily sell short
The invisible power, strength, and resiliency
That is alive and well in the world's
Realm of possibility.
We call it fate or karma or luck
Or even nine lives.
Whatever the title,
It comes from the same Source,
And it is astonishing how it always appears
Simultaneously,
And in lock step
With the badge
Of non surrender.
