Nobody's Home Poem by India Wallace

Nobody's Home

Icy wind bites into the skin
Distant waves crash on the shore
Tearing away the lifeless sand

There is a place in the advancing darkness
It's been there forever
Slowly falling into disrepair
A fine film of dust covers every surface

This once was a place
Full of light and laughter
Hopes of what to come
Many years ago, that light was estinguished
And there is only a hollow echo of the laughter

What could have changed a place like this so dramatically?
What could destory everything there ever was?

But this place is not a house
No, this place is my mind
Long forgotten
Long ago, left behind

No light ever shines from the windows
Nobody is ever home
