I was there on the day
hung on a cross
And when the heavens opened up
I watched my life
flash in moments before me
From beginning to end
all the things I ever said and did
It started alright
but ended tragically

It was the moment I surrendered
for the first time
I felt alive
This old heart gave way
to something wonderful and precious
I remember just a faint smile
as he looked at me
Whispered, my son you won't feel a thing
and as the heavens opened up
I knew exactly what he was telling me

What will it matter after I am gone
what will it matter after I am gone
only time will tell
