Paper Tigers. Poem by Peter Vealey

Paper Tigers.

You can never
Have the last words,
Whatever you say.
It doesn`t matter,
They will outlast you.
In the trivia stakes.
Nothing is sacred.
Words are empty,
But words are all.
A famous playwright might
Have said.
You can never be more than they.
The doctrine is self-righteous
And pious.
And on armageddon day.
They will tell you.
It was your fault.
Not theirs!
That it comes down
To this.
