Rivendell Poem by Hassan Adnan

Rivendell

The old teak, is the manifest of time and man.
History is his memory, a book and a map.
He saw man grow from ages to rages …
Pairs dwindling in mud to the overcrowded places …
From simplicity to the complexity of life …
From the mountain dwellers to the moon landers …
He saw man fight, for love, ego, land, riches and Lord.
He saw man sow discord, lust, greed and jealously.
He has seen prophets, commoners, kings, paupers walk the face of the earth…
He has seen the rain, storms, winds all in the plays of nature …
While the time remained tied and the props changed faces, men got lost and forgot life's phases, lost in the charisma of meaning, while the sun, the stars and heaven and earth all stared such faces …
And the old teak prayed for men to return to house of Lord, most stayed behind to the devil's mazes.
