See What Tomorrow Brings Poem by Nancy Crossman

See What Tomorrow Brings

Could we really be that ignorant?
To believe Mother Earth would survive,
The abuse we have subjected her to
Just so humans could thrive.

We’ve taken all she had to give
And given nothing back.
Now we’re reaping the seeds we’ve sown,
We’re the ones under attack.

There was a time we could go outside,
No need to protect our skin.
Now when the UV rating is high,
We simply must stay in.

Fresh air was an endless commodity,
Everyone had a share.
But breathing today is killing us,
There is so much waste in the air.

Clean water we took for granted,
There was lots for us to drink.
Now at times it isn’t safe,
And the chemicals stain the sink.

Super storms, floods and forest fires,
What a mess we’ve made of things.
Will humankind survive at all?
Let’s see what tomorrow brings.

Such truth and honesty, to the point and very, very real. Nicely written and formed into a comfortable rhythm to read. A very powerful message. DC

It's scary thinking of what tomorrow might bring. We have all sorts of flu destroying people's lives; how did that happen. Seas rising, and other natural calamities. Hope we will wake up soon enough to put things right.........Nice write.............
