Shimmer
Sunlight dances off of the water
the warmth wraps around you like a familiar blanket
sound is there but distantly, like a faint tickle
All you see is deep, endless blue
entranced by the view
in a moment,
in one clarifying breath
of the sand you can feel
hot enough to be real
but it is away,
so far away,
like a bird chasing the horizon
that approaches but never touches
