Speculum Poem by Petra Novakova

Speculum

Rating: 5.0

Looking at my reflection in the mirror,
It is not my copy who gazes back but hers.
The woman from yesterday is a sinner.

We both have our secrets like little leaves.
We often sneak into the night like thieves.
I do not recognize myself.

Subconsciously, I run into her open arms.
Consciously, she listens to my pretty lies.

Our confessions nobody ever believes.
Our life is a mirage that fate weaves.
She does not recognize herself.

Looking at her reflection in the mirror,
It is not her copy who gazes back but mine.
The woman of tomorrow is a sinner.
