Split Second Poem by Kailee Falvo

Split Second

When he left the house
No one knew he wouldn’t come back.
For that split second when he could have
Stayed at his house or leave;
He let his fears consume him
So he left, not ever returing.
When he staired at the tracks
Thoughts going through his mind
Those made him go crazy.
And for that split second when he could have
Turned around and went home or stay;
He stayed, waiting for that God for saken train.
From the distance, he heard the train,
Saw the lights, saw his life flash, felt his feet on the tracks.
Yet, for that split second when he could have
Walked over the tracks or waited for the impact;
He let his fears and thoughts consume him
And he waited for the impact.
For that split second when he could have went
Up or down, left or right, he let the bad consume him.
For that split second when his mom thought about him
Could have been that split second when he waited
For the impact.

R.I.P. Michael Aaron Cecala Forever in our minds and hearts,
And never for a split second;
But for the rest of our lives.
-Dedicated to Michael Cecala-
