Temptations Poem by vaiah jones

Temptations

One day,
A gift was left at my door.
It came from an anonymous source,
Beautifully wrapped,
With a tag: “From your friend,
With love”.

I hesitated at first,
And then unwrapped it.

To my surprise,
It was full of
TEMPTATIONS.
Don’t take me otherwise.
I mean -
Cadbury’s Tempations Chocolates.
In so many flavours.

I love chocolates.
Who doesn’t?

So, I thanked my secret friend
In my heart of hearts.
For his sweet concern.

But I couldn’t taste even a single one.
My Power Trainer would kill me.
And I love Him far too much
To disobey His instructions,
After all He is my Best Friend.

So I gave them all to my friend.
She relished them
In the real sense.

I smiled and left a note on my door,
“Sorry, wrong choice.”
