The Destroyer Poem by Rachel Brewer

The Destroyer

Taking a human life is like nothing else in this world.
The pain caused in a single action.
A lonely move made by one person.
Can take everything away.

It can rip families apart,
Destroy the lives of parents or children.
It can cause fear in the world,
The death of a person, any person.

Taking a human life is defying God.
Destroying his creations,
Damaging his masterpiece.
Tainting it forever.

It can turn the world red,
A paint the streets with terror.
It can dye the cities,
And plague the country.

Taking a human life, manslaughter.
Just talking about it is disgusting.
It messes people up,
Decays them on the inside.

It’s like stepping on a bug,
It can be over in a second.
But that one second has unbelievable consequences,
That last for a lifetime.

The people who lost don’t forget,
And the guilty are punished.
But is that enough?
Washing blood with blood doesn’t remove the stain.

Taking a human life,
Killing.
Tearing.
Destroying.

Don’t be a part of this,
Don’t be the destroyer,
You won’t be happy.
Not like this.
