The Good Guys Poem by Francis Duggan

The Good Guys

They are supposed to be the good guys the likes of Bush and Howard and Blair
But the damage they've created only time it can repair
With little provocation they went on the attack
They started with Afghanistan and now they are in Iraq.

They've put the Taliban to flight and they've overthrown Saddam Hussein
But Afghanistan and Iraq are basket cases and their wars have been in vain
Invading other Countries is never a good idea
They have not learned from the mistakes of past war history.

Bush, Howard and Blair the war men have surely got it wrong
They ought to know that invading weaker Nations is never glory to the strong
In Iraq people seriously injured and dying in suicide bombings every day
The war casualties keep mounting for war the price is huge to pay.

They are supposed to be the good guys though their casualties multiply
And those who talk of freedom to millions freedom do deny
The basic human right that is for to live free of fear
Each day more news of death and suffering from their wars we do hear.
