The Great Pretender Poem by Rachel Ten

The Great Pretender

Rating: 5.0

I had an idea of a game,
the game we played was called pretend.
The rules are to say you love me,
and promise to stay till the end.
You always won so easily,
but soon I came to know.
I was ready to quit playing,
while you were ready to go.

Love will find me again,
promptly after I'm six feet under.
Above will read a headstone,
'Taken from life- A great pretender'.
A prayer will be recited,
to the release of a bitter heart.
Through all the trials of life,
this dreamer is not ready to part.
