Time Poem by Hal Caufield

Time

Rating: 5.0

I have for these many years
Pondered the arbitrariness of time.
I have witnessed first hand
Wanton wholesale loss
Caused by missed opportunity.
But it wasn’t until I realized that
I had mislaid a chance to love you,
That I knew ignobility of time.

You see my love,
I now know what it is to
Be the most melancholy inmate
Within the walls of
Times unforgiving prison.

I know now the misery
Of knowing that your love
Is but an arms length away,
Yet unreachable through
The abysm cast by time.

But I know two things
That keep me going,
In the misery that I am living
In time’s wretched prison yard:
Above all things, even time,
There is a God
And He has ordained
In time you will be mine.
