Underdog Poem by Josey Tom

Underdog

We sell flowers
But our lives are devoid of fragrance
We sell delicious food
Still we lead tasteless lives

We sell colourful clothes
To sustain our pale bodies
We sell our bodies
To save our souls

We make skyscrapers
Yet sky remains our only roof
We make bangles
The jingling you hear are our anxieties

We take people to their destination
Though we don't have any
We make idols
Yet we are denied temple entry

We do 'illegal' things
Because 'legal' is beyond us
We are seldom in history
But we sustain it

You are remembered
Because we are always forgotten!
