World Without Love Poem by JAMES T. ADAIR

World Without Love

I've lived long in a world without love
I've felt the heartbreak...each day turned into years
I felt the crushing blows and fell to my knees
Each time I got up because I dreamed a dream
that wouldn't die...I dreamed of love
I didn't know who to dream about
It was not beauty, not riches, not status I sought
I sought only a beautiful pure heart, however broken
I looked into many eyes and saw many good souls
but I did not see you

Now suddenly I have met the heart I've longed to meet
you came in the most gentle way to me
More special because it was slow and natural
In this gentle dance my heart softened
I felt your softness and your care and courtesy
and I knew but I confronted the fear of my past
One day I saw you crying and I felt my own heart breaking
