Yellow Roses Poem by Joyce Hemsley

Yellow Roses

She could see no red carnatons
As he hurried to her door.
No bouquet of yellow roses
Like he brought the year before.

But there was 'something' in the parcel
He handed to her that day
All wrapped in shiny paper
With a pretty card to say:

'To my sweet love who is so fair
Enjoy these chocolates... I'll be there
To share the magic day with you.
We'll drink champagne and cognac too.
I will bring some yellow roses
Just as I did last year
To say A Happy Birthday to
The one I hold so dear'.
