I am not Buddha
Far from the Bhodi Tree
2,000 years from that time
Struggling to know who I am
...

Like a young tree
Planted in the early stages of life
Strong but, still gentle
Leaves bright with hope
...

We waltz on soft flowers
Held up by velvet strings-as the earth spins in restless wandering
Carries on its wind the smell of dew
Present time-present love
...

A lightening fig-furnace jell
Reaping charred and nervous wings
Anisette pungent-odor box
Nelson crown in loving steep
...

The path so anointed by your very presence
Ever lit-glowing with the luminous reflection of your soul
I see you in images that float
As a charmed procession-angelic parade
...

I shook when I got the message to call home
She had been bleeding off and on for three months
Scared
I rushed home to find her trying to rest
...

mediocre medicinal moron
mellow merry maddening
melodious mighty mentionable
might make more meals
...

Each morning when I wake up I have you in my heart
That's the way it's always been from the very start
I'm hopelessly devoted
Totally in love
...

Those of us left behind…
Struggle in a different way
Bowing to Universal will…
Standing in disbelief as loved ones
...

My personal World is an ever changing one, as is the Universe.

The movements of my atoms, the ebb and flow of water, and the constant ticking forward of my time
...

Reality
The movements of each moment
Transience and restlessness of existence
What Buddhist’s name Samsara
...

I Am Not Buddha

I am not Buddha
Far from the Bhodi Tree
2,000 years from that time
Struggling to know who I am
Why I am here
What direction in which to travel?

I am a just a human being
Fighting off demons
Walking, at times, in fear
Sensing remnants of other lives

I am not Buddha
I’ve obligated myself to others
Taken on worldly responsibilities
Searched for words of explanation
Felt failure

I get angry
Emotions overtake me
I suffer from indignation
Prehistoric defensiveness
Manipulated by Life

I am not Buddha
If I were
I would have more wisdom
Clarity
I would be “at one”

Free of all attachments…Yes?
Able to accept all with grace…of course!
Venture into the ether with serenity…absolutely.
I would be fearless, open, bold…no doubt

I am not Buddha…
But I am learning.
