It's times when I least expect to write
You draw emotions, tears in flight
Here I am, sitting day in and midnight
Hoping somehow to make things right

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.
A young soldier saluted it,
And then he stood at ease..

I could cuddle up next to your voice at night,
I could sleep right next to your skin,
My heart is overwhelmed with an incredible feeling
I never thought I'd feel again...

It's seen the birth of many states
It's served us well in many wars
Stars and Stripes banding together
In remembrance of what we're fighting for.

I see a woman ragged clothed
In such poverty and shame
Many say her kind is crazy
But they don't know her pain
...

Society's view upon me now
on insanity they feed
keep telling me that pain exists
I've nothing left to bleed
...

She's moving on today, they said
She's leaving the past behind.
She's picking up and shoving off
Before she loses her mind.
...

Tears rolling down my face,
With you on my mind,
I don't know what to do,
It's as if I'm running out of time.
...

Rainy days never seem to end
Painful scars refuse to mend

Tearful eyes don't dry

Go ahead and judge me
But think before you do
Not everyone is perfect
No, not even you
