The Long Wait

Standing on the altar, She looked at door
She then looked at the clouds
And gave herself an excuse
How will he come?
He can come, but its better if he doesn't
Lost in her thoughts, she looks at her feet
Which she had decorated with merchandise
With all the hopes, he would come
She also adorned her loose long black hairs
With string of jasmine flowers
Maybe the fragrance tie him for this year
She closes the door,
The night has crawled in
She lits a lamp and keeps on the altar
She still has hopes
Although like dim light of lamp
Her face which was glowing
Since morning,
Has become bit sad
The smile has faded
And she puts her hand on the window pane
Covered with tiny droplets of rain
She wipes the droplets
And looks outside.
Somebody was coming
She ran to the door
It was he
She hugged him
He kissed her
She had kept the hope
Although dim like a kerosene lamp
But it existed
