Sydney Giardella Poems

The sweat builds up on your brow
You try to understand how
Things came to this
And we lost you to
...

Hey Mom,
I just want to say
That this mothers day
I don't have a fancy necklace
...

Here I lay
among the glimmering blades of grass

The gentle rain
...

There is no flame
Which burns more ferociously
And savagely
Than the fire
...

Sydney Giardella Biography

Today I woke up and thought, 'Today could be my last'. I told myself that I should think that every day, so that maybe one day, I wouldn't just think about it.I thought that maybe one day I would LIVE like it was my last. I think, that if we all had that mentality, there would be no evil. There would be no war, no greed, no jealousy, no lust. It would be the way that it was intended to be: perfect.)

Abandoned

The sweat builds up on your brow
You try to understand how
Things came to this
And we lost you to
the craziness

It started out as a wonder
And blossomed into a ponder
And a ponder flourished into
The curiosity of what you can do
When harm is done unto you
And disaster plays its tune

Remember that saying that
Curiosity killed the cat
But I guess it's a tad late to say that
Since now you're gone and that's a fact

Your heart left before the rest of you
But you weren't slow to follow suit
We slowly watched you wither away
Clinging to the false hope that you'd return some day-

But do you want to know the truth?
The fate that condemned you
Wasn't the cutting, the pills, or the gun to your head
It was you and you alone that left yourself for dead

You could have decided against
Pulling the trigger
You could have put the pills aside
But no you popped with rigor
And you could have started to eat again
But you persisted on being thinner

So like I said, you withered away
You grew thinner and thinner day by day
And it wasn't a good thin either
Your appearance became even freakier

From the scars
that climbed up your arms
To the alarm
Of your diminishing charm
You made yourself into something terrifying
My pity for you was death defying

And so when you finally disappeared
I cried out in rejoice for all to hear
I had rid myself of my greatest fear
That I would have to continue watching you waste away here

It's sad I know that you didn't even try
To prevent your own, miserable demise
But kudos to the one that tries

I know you're in a better place
Where there is love and no hate

It just really sucks that you abandoned me that way...
