Today I awoke and for what I thought I hate this life of mine.
I took a walk as I got to the corner I saw an old man begging for food.
I crossed the street I looked down there was a little girl no shoes a torn dress dirty from head to toe missing half her teeth.
I saw a woman who had been beaten black and blue.

It’s been almost two years now.
But it still seems like yesterday that I watched you take your last breath.
You fought the battle for ten years but the cancer finally won.
Leaving our lives so empty without you.

They say they heard the cries but didn’t want to get involved.
They say they saw the bruises left on her tiny arms.
They say they saw the fear and pain that her little eyes tried to hide.
They say that today they found her lifeless body broken and abused.

The day you left all I could do was cry as you walked away.
I felt so numb inside because it came as such a shock.
I thought everything was fine little did I know that you had given your heart to someone else.
The smile you wore was because of her your new love.

I lay in my bed the room is dark.
I hear the clock ticking I see the shadows on the wall.
I hear the rain hitting the window I hear her leave.
I hear the door start to open I see him standing there.
