Tara Nugent Poems

Lying in your arms at night,
Watching your strong and broad chest rise and fall,
My mind strays to that fateful night when your smile had me ensnared,
An honest smile it was stretching all the way to your eyes.
...

You left in a second,
Not a word to signal your leave,
Vanished into the skies like a breath released,
You left me behind like yesterdays trash.
...

Looking back to those days long gone,
Seventeen and knowing it all,
What could you have told me,
Other than what I didn’t already know.
...

Father's Day,
Two simple words,
Joy to many,
Pain to many more.
...

Rushing from bus to class,
Eyes pried open in apparent attention,
Hurried scrawls of two sets of notes...
Always one mate who hasn't turned up!
...

Once were warriors…
Just like the movie says we once were,
Apart for such long periods,
But then bouncing back,
...

I'm finding it hard to catch a breath,
The realisation that the time has surely run out is almost incapacitating,
I did not, could not think it would just fade out like this,
Why? How? What could have gone so wrong with something so right,
...

Isn't it strange how life throws you curve balls,
You open your heart and let the feelings in,
All the while knowing it is much too soon,
But you unerringly trust your heart's whispers.

Tara Nugent Biography

No poet, love to read it, but never be a writer, just when the wind (or the red wine!) catches me...too many real writers out there! P.s Yes there is a connection to Ted Nugent..but it's far off and don't agree with his stance on fire arms etc!)

Strength

Lying in your arms at night,
Watching your strong and broad chest rise and fall,
My mind strays to that fateful night when your smile had me ensnared,
An honest smile it was stretching all the way to your eyes.

I was not looking to meet you,
Nor looking to meet another,
But the pull of that smile combined with the remarkable strength of you,
Had me pulled towards you like the tide to the shore.

‘Hello’ says I and what would you be called?
You told me your name and without pause or regret,
I asked you to accompany me home to my bed,
Where you still enjoy comfort and passion now...

...Or rather I still take comfort in those strong arms of yours!
Soon we fly over seas and oceans to visit your homeland,
Excitement and nervousness are felt in equal share,
But whatever may come I know your strength will keep me strong.
