Thomas Gold Appleton (March 31, 1812 – April 17, 1884), son of merchant Nathan Appleton, was an American writer, an artist, and a patron of the fine arts. Henry Wadsworth Longfellow was his brother-in-law after he married Appleton's sister Frances.
