More Sat In A Flat, Than Cat In A Hat

It has nothing to do with green eggs and ham,
Or cat in a hat or Sam I am.
I'm just sat in a flat, thinking who am I?
While the world carries on and people go by
You see, I'm all messed up, and I don't know why?
'Oh help me, please help me' I would sit and cry.

But nobody hears and nobody sees,
The hollow inside me, the thoughts like rough seas.
It feels like despair, a pain I should hide,
So cover it up, and keep it inside.
For no-one can handle that kind of emotion,
The awkwardness, the silence, the time in slow motion!

'Drug them and hide them' for no-one to see,
Long lonely nights and long therapy!
But you need not have worried; you have nothing to fear,
I'll worry my future, and shed me a tear,
But I'll do it in silence; I'll do it at home,
For no-one to see me, I'll do it alone.

So next time you're eating your eggs and ham,
Or reading Cat in a Hat, or Sam I am.
Spare me a thought, that person you see,
Am I distant and strange or just lonely?
You see, I don't want your money, and I don't want your rope!
I just need you to listen, I simply need hope.
