Biography of Toba Beta

Toba Beta poet

Toba Beta is an author of Indonesia, a writer of roman fantasy syfy novel, a poet.

He has hobbies such as writing/reading, nature photography, stargazing, traveling around the world, computer digital graphic design, aikido martial arts and playing classical guitar (once he’s the best guitarist in a provincial guitar contest at North Sumatera) .

After earned his diploma in computer science from Bandung Institute of Technology, he continued and completed his bachelor's degree in economics study from faculty of economy at University of Indonesia with judicium cum laude.

He then continued his education to master degree majoring in treasury and risk management at Magister Management University of Indonesia.

He completed his master’s degree in 2009 as one of the top performers and fastest graduates.

His thesis when completing computer science diploma was about managing Informix-based database system and object oriented programming. His thesis when completing economic degree was about corporate performance measurement system known as balanced scorecard. His disertation when completing master degree was about modern portfolio theory in financial and risk management.

Toba once worked as an economist and banker in multinational companies such as UPS, Citigroup and HSBC. This profession lasted for 12 years before he decided to change his career and focusing on campus activities, writing and running his own business.

He prefers to perceive himself as a realist who keeps open-minded and open-hearted to the science fact and science fiction, a humble kind of free thinker.

Currently, Toba lives in Jakarta with his wife Delani and his daughter Sindar.
