The gift of power, the will to dare
Wit so sharp and insights rare
A heart to share and a soul to care

Clouds gather over the far reaches of the sky
Rain pelts down in needles of silver
The Earth is tickled by the pin pricks
Dormant dreams resurrect
...

I have a pet, a smart little dachshund
Wherever I go, he follows me always
Watching him wag his tail is fun
Mischievous he is, his antics amaze
...

I don't remember when I lost my tenderness
And hardened into a thick shelled adult
No more innocent, no more gullible
Like a snake, I have peeled away my old self
...

Scenes reel back casting dark shadows
Of the fated day I had to leave my home
Handcuffed and guarded by cops on either side
Despised by all as one so loathsome
...

Humming of endless mystery
Life glides down noiseless
Like a trail running into the dark
With thick drapes drawn down
...

When sleep eludes me at night
And my mind floats aimless
Like a sail boat idle on the sea
When on my bed I lie staring vacant
