Vassilis Christakis Poems

Foray into the unknown, unfettered, not forlorn,
Cut through the foliage of uncertainty with your machete's grit,
Embrace the light that sneaks through scattered shards of fear
...

A breath of cold clean air
A candy-flavored breeze
And an intrepid fiaker
Such is Vienna's winter style
...

There,
In the valley of shadows, in the deep German forest,
We hit them with our lucid spears, of law and logic
Of folly and hubris,
...

Eternal spring how dear and boggling can you be. You come again like an auntie with a cherry pie. And again and again every year.
And we have to rejoice. And revel and sing. How tiresome to have to be happy.
If you arrived in the midst of winter a stranger you would be. And if in the midst of summer you would go unnoticed.
But you come when you have to. Like the auntie that comes out when the cold goes away. You are strange in dress like her. A bit too floral.

On Breaking Through

Foray into the unknown, unfettered, not forlorn,
Cut through the foliage of uncertainty with your machete's grit,
Embrace the light that sneaks through scattered shards of fear

Stay the course while you engage with vainglorious scorn
Confront Adversity as if you read a fairy tale well-knit
Select some characters to lend a hand your path to clear

Bestow gifts of passion from your soul's war-chest of corn
Fracture long-held belief, tradition, myth, and writ
Curate the fair, the true, the kind and make them safe and dear

For those who come behind alive or not yet born
For those who want to rise but think they are not fit
For those who don't want to believe that the world's end is near.
