Victor Sapkota Poems

My mother, my dear mother, oh!
You love me more than me!
Are such rhymes rather cheap today?
I write them heartily.
...

Revelries are simply the smoke-rings of time.
Acquaintances are mere words that do not rhyme.
And fast-blowing winds shall fly those rings away.
But there shall be words which rhyme with you every day.
...

What happened b’yond the sky
That people called it heaven’s tears?
Do Gods and Angels cry
Hid by the clouds and it appears?

My Mother, My Dear Mother

My mother, my dear mother, oh!
You love me more than me!
Are such rhymes rather cheap today?
I write them heartily.

How I wish I could ever be
Just crying like a babe
Upon your arms with pain untold
But you would not mistake.

But since today I’ve been a man
I’ve more to live and run.
I’ve loved as much to all I can
But you’re my dearest one.

My mother, my dear mother, oh!
You love me more than me!
Are such rhymes rather cheap today?
I write them heartily.

One feature I look for in PH is to see what is new in the poems by writers hitherto unknown to me, find out where they come from, what kind of life they led or lead or expect to lead. I sometimes see the 'rating', but do not always agree with the marks given, as in primary school, for 'Composition',6/10 or a minimum 5/5. even 10/10. This poem is rather conventionally sentimental, I think.
