once invited us to wrestle under its watchful eye
The far off hum of crickets serenaded us on the grass
-we hardly noticed.
Embraced in one another,
we waited as the nights grew stale.
Days grew shorter:
the evenings came unwelcomingly early.
An eternity soon grew cherished-
Savored till it was gone.
All else is dark and fridged, but
Your body pumps life into my heart.
Tears have run dry so I hold you close
-clinging to what is already gone...
