you'd still haunt my dreams and
make me feel guilty for your mistakes.

I grew up not more than twelve years
gradually into a family not my own
we'd catch all the tears
and make each others problems our own

She said I saw him once in Carolina
He didn't even know my face
Its a long and lonely drive to Carolina
I gotta get back to that place

Times of pain
friends in need
tears like rain
too blind to see
...

slumber deep and slumber sweet
those sweet dreams, they aren't for me...
you're my destruction my fire my hope...
with all my little black heart
...

I walk alone where we once walked,
the sand between my toes,
memories stalk my mind.
I look to the ocean, so endless.

that's right.... it's a big warm cozy bed
with a wonderful protective cover
that keeps me safe as I dream the night away
...

Your heart beats wildly,
as we both lie awake.
Hugging me to you,
afraid to let go.

i wanna face this war with you
through the smoke and the fire
through the hope and crossed wire
you're the only thing that's true

i crawl under the covers at night
and reach under the bed
carefully i place my hopes into it
and close the lid so they wont get away
