time slips away
i must leave you behind
i wish i could stay
but i listen to time

When I bring a boy home
I wanna see my mama smile
hear my sister say he's cute
and let there be peace for awhile

sitting alone on a park bench,
watching the people go by
seeing the tear drops fall.
watching my summer fly by.

The knife is at my throat
and I hear his voice of treason.
'That's the one, ' he says
and I try hard not to cry.

Picking up the pieces
of my favorite mug off the floor
you walk right by and I feel blood
raise to flood my palms.

I can feel you inside of me
haunting my thoughts
tasting my blood
swallowing me whole

Man kills the race
and women struggle to keep
their men from roaming and
letting beer and football stand between them

baby close your eyes
listen to the angels
let them sing you to sleep
and greet you when you wake

I just wanna collapse
into your arms and tell you
what you're missing and cry
but you're not here.

I feel your touch but pull away
I see your eyes settle to confusion
