Forgive Me Father For I Have Not Sinned

Forgive me father for I have sinned
I couldn't help it
We were restless
Like kids in a schoolroom on a hot summer day
But hell is just too hot
I pray here on earth
With my knees bent on the ground
Like the dog-eared pages in our eternal book of love
And when I flip the pages to the beautiful realities of us in 5 years
I still see us here, holding hands, and pretending the city lights are stars
But the stars in your eyes are enough for me
But maybe, father, I just got carried away
By her gentle breathing down my neck
To the point where I am flying
And you are there next to me in my bicycle basket like E.T.
We were interlopers in our own home
So we just kept flying
Until we fell down with the rain
You know, I like people who smile when it's raining
We could flip all the umbrellas over and use them as our riverboats
Go on an adventure like Huck and Jim
And on that adventure spend blissful forevers holding hands
And, when we kiss
Our lips are sweet like honey
Flowing together
Back into the hive where they came from
Going back to the childhood where we can be free
With skinned knees and grass-stained jeans
And boundless infinities in each other's arms
Never mind, father
I'm not sorry anymore.
