To Put Off

There were these people,
Faces unknown,
watching her cry.
They saw the tears drip
drip slowly in her lap,
as she tried in vain,
to put off.
' Put off ' like u would,
a light bulb.
Complications with emotions
would be easily overcome,
if they could just be ' put off '.
The Faces unknown,
mercilessly watched,
her scramble for her tissues.
She had none derived they,
with the expression on her face.
the' lost ' expression.
On her lips played a swear word,
interpreted by all,
as they gasped at the nerve,
Nerves that were shaken up violently.
She swiped away her tears,
destroying every evidence,
but in vain, her eyes red,
showed everything she hoped to hide.
The Faces unknown,
wondered the possibilities,
that made her eyes this hideous scarlet.
Her fingers wrestled,
on her wet lap,
as she tried to gain control.
The Faces unknown,
distracted with problems of their own,
a last glance they gave,
as she sat alone.
She looked up slowly,
composure regained,
on her face defiance.
But deep inside,
she ripped apart,
damned emotions, lost reliance.
The Faces unknown,
unrecognized she soon forgets.
Hers etched in their memories.
When with her burdens,
out of sight she passes,
they will still remember.
And on days alone,
some will recall.
How she let them fall?
her emotions unchecked,
she should have known better,
of how to suppress, to put off.
